The learners at Big Play Days will be able to explore all of the tools, activities and materials that Project Knot Work at Knot Work Studio holds.

We have:

  • materials for drawing + painting

  • repurposed materials for crafting

  • blankets, clamps + clips, tables + chairs, and ALL the materials for making forts

  • outdoor space nearby that we will visit in all weather! [except hazardous conditions]

  • games + books

The learners will be given time [and space] to find what they are interested in, build what they imagine, ask what they are wondering, and engage in PLAY, as kids of all ages should.

This adult-supported learning experience is intended to be a true ‘day off’ for kids when school is out of session.

Through self-led learning, we offer children the freedom to explore. Alongside that freedom, they need our support to activate skills.

As unschooling parents, we see big, unfettered play and self-led exploration as the cornerstone of the development of their freedom as learners and the next step in creating the life they want.

When kids have the day off the structure of the school day, we want to facilitate BIG PLAY.

How will we facilitate this?

Big Play Days at Project Knot Work will be facilitated by Lane Clark and Andrea Marsh, both autonomy focused, fun loving adults. We share collective backgrounds and experience in a variety of fields with an assortment of skills — with an overall commitment to imperfectionism and self-led learning.

We created Knotwork with the intention to make space and time to chase ideas. To turn an idea into a skill. To follow curiosity into understanding. And to share our learning and mastery with the broader community as we showcase ourselves as unschoolers and lifelong learners publicly.
